Back in 1872 when this was primarily

farmland, Hertel Avenue was Bird Street

and this creek was a major water

drainage basin for North Buffalo.  In 1901 it also served to receive runoff from The American

Radiator Company plant on Elmwood.  Today

not much evidence remains, except

at the mouth of the Niagara River

as a Combined Sewer Overflow Outlet.
