Back in 1872 when this was primarily farmland, Hertel Avenue was Bird Street and this creek was a major water drainage basin for North Buffalo. In 1901 it also served to receive runoff from The American Radiator Company plant on Elmwood. Today not much evidence remains, except at the mouth of the Niagara River as a Combined Sewer Overflow Outlet. |
